Cement & Power

The DS Group ventured into the cement and power sectors with innovative, quality-driven projects in the state of Meghalaya.

A 240 Megawatt coal based Thermal Power Plant is being set up at the Garo Hills in Meghalaya. It will be the first Thermal Power Plant in the state of Meghalaya that promises to bridge the gap in demand and supply of electric power in the North Eastern Region of India. A landmark project, it will reduce the dependency on Hydro Power from rain fed rivers and will capitalize on the abundant coal reserves in the state. The company also plans to start a few small Hydro Power projects in the same area.

Along with the power projects, the Company is also setting up two cement plants at the Garo Hills and Jaintia Hills, with a combined capacity of 2 Million Tonnes per annum (MTPA). To meet the power requirement of cement plants, Captive Power Plants of 20 MW capacity based on coal will also be set-up at both the locations.
